Alamo and National car rental brands enter Uruguay market

Enterprise Holdings announced that it is franchising the use of its Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands to Olecram SA, a leading transportation company based in Montevideo, Uruguay.  This agreement will bring the Alamo and National brands to three locations in Uruguay during the first year of the partnership: at the Montevideo airport as well as in the exclusive resort of Punta Del Este, both at the airport and in the city-center.

The new franchise agreement enables both companies to better meet customers’ needs. It also marks Enterprise Holdings’ entry into the Uruguayan market and completes the company’s footprint in South America’s “Southern Cone” region, consisting not only of Uruguay, but also Argentina, Chile and Paraguay. In addition, last month, another franchisee, São Paulo-based Unidas, opened Alamo and National locations at five airports in Brazil.

“This partnership brings the dependability, affordability and convenience of the Alamo and National brands to customers in Uruguay,” said Peter A. Smith, vice president of global franchising for Enterprise Holdings, which also owns and operates its flagship Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand in North America. “We share a strong focus on customer service, and we will work together to expand options for travelers throughout South America.”

Dr. Martin Grande, Director of Olecram, stated, “Alamo and National will provide business and leisure travelers in Uruguay with the kind of service they have come to know and trust. Together, we’ll continue our commitment to excellence and quality.”

Currently, through its regional subsidiaries, Enterprise Holdings owns and operates the National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, as well as its flagship Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand in North America. The company also operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand in the UK, Germany and Ireland, and a franchise network that operates the National and Alamo brands in 23 countries throughout the Americas. Earlier this year, Enterprise Holdings acquired Citer SA in France and Atesa in Spain, and made a strategic investment in China-based eHi Auto Services.
