Arival CEO unpacks 2025’s travel realities in opening session
Douglas Quinby, CEO and Co-founder of Arival, opened Arival 360 Washington with a data-rich keynote that laid bare the trends reshaping the travel experiences sector. Leading with a compelling stat from Arival’s proprietary research, Quinby revealed: “The top 10% of income earners in the United States account for nearly half of all spend… and within our industry, that 1/5 cohort of affluent travelers drives nearly half of all experiences spend.” The keynote, delivered at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, focused on the intersection of economic shifts, generational change, and exponential tech disruption. Drawing from Arival’s Global Operator Landscape Survey, Quinby highlighted regional performance trends: “Asia is doing relatively well, with a majority of operators reporting growth. But in the U.S. and Latin America, 60% of operators told us their business is flat or down this year.”

Jamaica Going After Bigger Slice of US$368 Billion Wedding Market
Promoting Jamaica as a ‘love destination,’ the Ministry of Tourism is seeking to increase the island’s share of the lucrative global wedding services market, which is projected to reach US$368 billion by 2030. With destination weddings comprising one of the fastest growing segments and increasing by 40% over the last five years, Minister of Tourism, Hon Edmund Bartlett is looking to professional wedding planners for support stressing that “it is time for us to start positioning ourselves to secure a bigger share of that US$368 billion.” He wants weddings to double their current contribution to arrivals and earnings in Jamaica.
HFTP Announces 2025 Paragon Award Recipient – Chris Garland
Christopher Garland was selected as the 2025 Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) Paragon Award recipient for his significant contribution in guiding industry professionals in financial reporting for hotel companies through leadership roles with the association. Garland is an active participant in the Global Finance Committee (GFC), the group behind the recently-released 12th revision of the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry. Garland will be recognized at the upcoming HFTP Annual Convention on October 22 at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Fla. “I am truly honored to receive the Paragon award from HFTP,” said Garland. “Following in the footsteps of hospitality legends is humbling and I am grateful for this recognition.”
