Seychelles Festival Kreol becomes a real people’s event

“It is a commendable approach when the people of a country come forward with financial support to make a national event possible.” These words were spoken by Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, at the latest ceremony organized for local businesses to present their contribution to the Festival Kreol Organizing Committee.

This week saw new supporting partners boarding the Festival Kreol wagon contributing financially to the organization of the event. Providence Supplies, a new friend of “Festival Kreol,” is now the main sponsor of the film projection “Cine Sesel.”

The Mauritius Commercial Bank (Seychelles) Ltd., traditionally a faithful partner of Festival Kreol, donated its check to the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, to sponsor the “Fon lanmal” event, whereas BM Plastics Ltd. came forward to confirm that they are contributing towards the kiosks cover.

In total, the Festival Kreol Organizing Committee collected a further sum of about 86 thousand rupees from the 3 sponsors.

The Chairperson of Festival Kreol Organizing Committee, Raymonde Onezime, thanked the sponsors for their continuous support and contributions to the festival, saying that every year positive response to the festival is heartedly appreciated. The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, who addressed the sponsors and their friends said that these contributions will come in handy for the festival as it will enable the Organizing Committee to create the Festival Kreol spirit expected by the country.

“It is important that we have the support of private sectors and all Seychellois to give a boost to the festival. Your contribution is helping the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to bring the spirit of the festival to Victoria, the Creole capital of the world. Alone, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture would not be able to stage this festival,” said Minister St.Ange.

“The Festival Kreol 2012 is becoming a real people’s event, with people coming forward to sponsor the event. The door is open for partners to come on board as friends of the Seychelles Festival Kreol. Often you hear those who sit idle say that they wanted to be involved with such a project, but words will remain words if the conviction for the need to play their share in the field of social responsibility is not featured in their company’s motto,” Minister St.Ange said.

The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture has also reiterated the visibility that such an event gives to Seychelles, especially through the media.
