Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon will present for the first time in Portugal a grand exhibition of sculpture reproductions made by the Musée Rodin in Paris, from September 30 to October 16, 2011.
Twenty works by master sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) on display in the Almada Negreiros Lounge include many of the artist’s most well known pieces, such as The Thinker, The Kiss, Eternal Idol, Eternal Spring, study for The Secret, Hand of God, so-called Pianist’s Hand, Two Hands and Nijinsky.
The exhibition stands alongside the Hotel’s own art collection - one of the largest collections of contemporary Portuguese art displayed anywhere.
These sculpture reproductions are created by the Musée Rodin from Rodin’s original molds. They are made of resin with a bronze patina, and are stamped by the museum. Each is accompanied by the masterpiece’s history.
The curator of the exhibition, Marie-Astrid Christie, will be hosting guests and giving guided tours of the exhibition. Cultural panels (in English, French and Portuguese) will be shown to enable visitors to familiarise themselves with the life and work of Auguste Rodin.
