Four Seasons Hotel Austin dedicates October to Cancer Fundraising

What if you could practice your tree pose, pig out on pancakes and indulge in a pink grapefruit massage, all while helping find a cure for cancer?

Locals and guests at Four Seasons Hotel Austin will be able to do just that come October 2011 thanks to the Hotel’s month-long lineup of events and new product offerings planned to benefit the Seton Shivers Cancer Center at University Medical Center Brackenridge. Among the special events and offers:

Special Events

Yoga on the Lawn: Yoga enthusiasts of all ages are invited to strike a pose in one of Austin’s most scenic spots during Yoga on the Lawn, scheduled for Saturday, October 15 on the Hotel’s lawn overlooking Lady Bird Lake. Starting at 9:30 am, the hour-long session will be led by registered yoga instructor Angela Deboise with acoustic accompaniment provided by Murphy’s In Laws. Participants are asked to donate a minimum of USD 10.00, all of which will be donated to Seton; guests who donate at least USD 20.00 will receive a pool day pass valid Monday through Friday until October 31, 2011. Due to limited space, reservations are required and may be made by calling The Spa.
Bake Sale and Raffle: One of the Hotel’s most delicious fundraising events, the annual Bake Sale and Raffle features more than 100 different varieties of cookies, cakes, breads and other dessert treats handmade by Four Seasons employees. Offered from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Friday, October 21 in the Hotel Lobby, the bake sale will satisfy one’s sweet tooth while dozens of raffle prizes – collected from the Hotel and various Austin businesses – vie for attention. Baked goods range in price from 50 cents (individual cookies) to USD 15.00 (a whole pie), with raffle tickets USD 1.00 each. Like last year’s event, which raised more than USD 4,000.00, all proceeds will be donated to Seton.
Pancake Supper for Seton: Experience the nostalgia of breakfast for dinner and help a great cause in the process at TRIO’s 3rd annual Pancake Supper. Taking place Wednesday, October 26 from 5:00 to 10:00 pm, the Pancake Supper offers guests their choice of four pancake options (oatmeal pecan, banana blueberry, buttermilk and potato), each served with a choice of three sides. A limited á la carte dinner menu will also be available. There is cost per adult and per child, with 50 percent of proceeds benefiting Seton. Reservations recommended.
Month-Long Offers

Pink Grapefruit Massage: Around the world, the colour pink has become a symbol for the ongoing fight to find a cure for breast cancer. With this as inspiration, The Spa offers a Pink Grapefruit Massage from October 1 to 31, 2011, with 10 percent of proceeds benefiting Seton. Both uplifting and stimulating, the Pink Grapefruit Massage incorporates pink grapefruit essential oils into a Swedish or Deep Tissue massage. Contact The Spa to book an appointment and get prices.

Even better, this feel-good drink also tastes great with its mix of Savvy vodka, Paula’s Texas Lemon, fresh POM and lemon juice, served in a martini glass with a pink sugar rim. The Pink Ribbon Martini will be available in the Lobby Lounge October 1-31, 2011.
