Omni Hotels Acquires Crowne Plaza Majestic Hotel In St. Louis

Omni Hotels announced today that it has added another crown jewel to its portfolio of four-star luxury hotel properties—the Crowne Plaza Majestic Hotel in St. Louis to be renamed the Omni Majestic Hotel. The purchase of the Omni Majestic Hotel marks the re-entry of the four-star hotel chain into the St. Louis market since its presence in 1989 with the Omni Hotel at Union Station. Omni Hotels will officially take ownership of the property Oct. 29, 1997.

“We are very excited to add the Omni Majestic Hotel in St. Louis to our family of four-star, luxury and first-class hotels,” said Omni Hotels President Jim Caldwell. “One of the few remaining boutique hotels in America, the Majestic Hotel in St. Louis is an historic landmark located in one of this country’s major business and leisure travel destinations. Since undergoing new ownership in 1996,Omni Hotels has focused on expanding our operations in the Midwest. We felt it critical that Omni Hotels once again have a presence in St. Louis, and when the opportunity came in the form of the Majestic Hotel, we did not think twice.”

Constructed in 1914, the 72,000 square foot, nine-story structure underwent a major restoration in 1996. Each of the hotel’s 91 oversized guest rooms are elegantly appointed with Italian marble, chintz fabrics, detailed millwork and classical furnishings, including chaise lounges and 19th century four poster beds. To accommodate business travelers, rooms are equipped with dual telephone lines with voice mail and modem capabilities. The Omni Majestic Hotel also provides an on-site health club, complimentary valet parking, evening turndown service and 24-hour concierge service.
