Acapulco, Mexico, hosts successful Tianguis Turístico

The 42nd edition of Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco, organised by the Mexico Tourism Board, broke records in terms of attendees, number of business meetings and participation from companies, buyers, and countries.

The figures show the event exceeding the results in all of these categories from all Tianguis Turístico during the last five years.

The event saw 10,000 attendees, up six per cent on last year, while some 44,312 business meetings were recorded, up by more than a third.

Participants from the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe were also welcome to the show for the first time.

The latest edition of Tianguis Turístico affirmed sustainability as a primary focus of the industry and included workshops for training and exchanges with various themes related to sustainable tourism with Mexico’s ministry of tourism leading a discussion with representatives from more than 20 states and the private sector on this important topic.

Also announced was a new commitment to ensure that the entire tourism industry works to protect Mexico’s rich natural resources and biodiversity.

Due to the efforts on behalf of the ministry of tourism and the Mexico Tourism Board, Twitter organised the opening of a Blue Room for the first time, it was visited by several opinion leaders who resonated across various key audiences.

The Mexico Tourism Board presented a module of digital innovation where they unveiled their new digital ecosystem that includes a new website redesign offering new functionalities such as increased adaptability, intuitive navigation and better ease of use.
