Lufthansa City Airlines starts ticket sales in April and flight operations in June
As the newest airline in the Lufthansa Group, Lufthansa City Airlines will launch its flight operations on June 26, 2024 with the first flight from Munich to Birmingham. As of now guests will be able to book their tickets on feeder services for Lufthansa as well as for direct flights between Munich and numerous destinations. It will then also be possible to book the offered routes under flight numbers with the new airline code “VL” via the familiar Lufthansa Group sales channels.
Lufthansa City Airlines is fully integrated into the feeder network of the Lufthansa hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. The airline is initially launching its flight program from Munich to European and German domestic destinations such as Birmingham, Hanover and Düsseldorf.
The young airline is taking off with aircraft from the A320 family. By ordering 40 brand-new aircraft of the fuel-efficient Airbus A220-300 type and a further 20 purchase options, the Lufthansa Group has set a clear signal for the future of Lufthansa City Airlines. As its fleet grows, Lufthansa City Airlines will add further destinations in Europe to its network and gradually expand it.
“Lufthansa City Airlines is contributing to the future viability of the hubs in Munich and Frankfurt. We are looking forward to new modern Airbus A220 and A320neo deliveries in the coming years. For our guests and employees, we are driving forward our renewal and thus strengthening Lufthansa’s planned growth in long-haul traffic,” emphasizes Jens Fehlinger, Lufthansa City Airlines Managing Director Operations.
Passengers can look forward to the proven Lufthansa product and service offering on board for short and medium-haul routes.
