Enterprise Holdings s franchising the use of its Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands to Brazilian car rental operator Unidas. The 15-year agreement will bring the Alamo and National brands to Unidas’ more than 100 airport and city locations throughout Brazil – and enable both companies to better meet the needs of their respective customers.

“Enterprise is interested in sharing ‘best practices,’ including various types of car-sharing and short-term rental programs, as well as the inroads we’re making with trendsetters and early adopters in select markets.”

Enterprise Holdings has confirmed it will acquire car rental firm Citer SA from PSA Peugeot Citroën of France. With a fleet of approximately 30,000 vehicles, Citer SA has deep coverage through locations in the main cities, railway stations and airports in France and Spain, two key European markets in which Citer ranks among the leading vehicle rental companies.

Enterprise Holdings has announced it will end its relationship with Orbitz.com and its sister site CheapTickets.com after months of difficult discussions. The decision follows that of American Airlines, which cut out intermediaries in order channel business through its own distribution system.

Enterprise Holdings is battling allegations in the United States that its policy on recalled vehicles is putting customer safety at risk. American law states car dealers are banned from selling a vehicle subject to a safety recall, with consumer groups seeking an extension of the legislation to include car rental companies.
