Virgin Atlantic to expand Cancun flights following boom in demand

“Unprecedented demand” has seen Virgin Atlantic increase flights to Cancun.

The transatlantic carrier launched the route on June 12th, but following a boom in travel to the destination Virgin confirmed it would increase the twice-weekly service to three times a week.

The change will take effect from April 4th 2013.

“Cancun is performing extremely well for us and in fact, is one of our most successful launches ever,” said Edmond Rose, Virgin Atlantic’s director of commercial and revenue planning.

“Transatlantic routes have always been at the core of Virgin Atlantic’s business and we are delighted to be able to show our commitment to Mexico and add the extra service.”

Last year Mexico welcomed a record 23 million international travellers, up two per cent on 2010.
