The Costa Deliziosa website debuts online

Costa Deliziosa, the newest ship in the Costa Cruises fleet, is due to be christened in Dubai on 23 February 2010 during her ‘Grand Inaugural Cruise’ and preceding her winter 2009-2010 program of seven-day Arabian Gulf cruises, is now online at

Visitors to the site can enter the world of Costa Deliziosa, combining the very best of the Costa Cruises product and Costa Deliziosa, synonymous with “sheer pleasure”.

User involvement is guaranteed thanks to web design based on the intensive use of video and imagery, showcasing the interiors of the Costa Deliziosa and offering a special preview of the ship’s cutting-edge design, through the use of premium materials such as marble, granite and stucco applied using the technique known as “spatolato veneziano”. Other decorative interior finishes including “parchment scroll” lamé, refined Zebrano wood and Wenge timber, Murano glass, and stylish polished and glazed steel. Also previewing online are the liner’s works of art, notably “Sphere” by Arnaldo Pomodoro and a large painting by Mario Donizetti, both displayed in the atrium.

One of the website’s main innovations are the video interviews with members of Costa Club (the company’s loyalty scheme) and shipboard personnel. Each interviewee offers an insight into the cruise experience, presenting the viewer with a fascinating portrayal of the new liner and her unique features. The video includes appearances by Captain Giuseppe Russo, Guest Relation Manager Ingrid Miletta, Tour Manager Giulia Galetta as well as CostaClub members from around the world.

These firsthand impressions offer a great way of evoking the cruise experience with video interviews conveying an unparalleled excellence of a Costa cruise. Furthermore the guests’ direct testimonies are used by Costa Cruises as part of a broader strategy designed to forge stronger links between actual and potential cruisers by means of social media marketing activity.

On the Costa Deliziosa website, visitors will also be able to browse the ship’s new brochure, which has already been distributed to travel agencies. The site will be constantly updated with all the latest news regarding the liner’s exclusive innovations, including the 4D cinema, roller skating track, Golf simulator, Playstation World, “Samsara Spa” wellness centre with the Technogym Kinesis circuit and equipment that can be used individually or in groups, specially designed to improve your state of health, fitness and muscle tone.

The Costa Deliziosa website, which is the first step in a major campaign of communication ahead of the extraordinary ship christening event in Dubai, is one of a wide range of initiatives online, whereby Costa Cruises puts the focus on the customer, enabling them to get virtual experience of the sights and sounds of the cruise vacation before they come on board.

The original web-based projects launched since 2007 include: the Video Tutor service, a virtual cruise assistant that helps future guests personalize their cruise vacation by booking additional services (shoreside excursions, entertainment, wellness treatments etc.); in 2007 the christening of the Costa Serena in the port of Marseilles with a live webcast of the event on SecondLife;  WebTV (, launched in 2008, with the aim of further disseminating and consolidating Costa Cruises’ identity and using institutional videos to enhance brand awareness and corporate reputation; in 2009 the Company’s debut on YouTube (, where past and future cruisers can share their experiences and dreams; and video FAQs (, an exciting new way of providing information, establishing a direct relationship with consumers, and giving them hard and fast answers; on 5 June 2009, Costa Cruises offered another world first with live international web-based coverage of the joint christening of Costa Luminosa and Costa Pacifica – this included not only live streaming of the event, but also contributions from Costa bloggers worldwide and real-time updates throughout the day with interviews, photos and videos.
