New managing director appointed at London Overground

Arriva and MTR, joint shareholders of London Overground Rail Operations, have announced the appointment of Peter Austin as managing director.

LOROL operates London Overground rail services under contract to Transport for London.

Austin, who is currently finance director at the organisation, begins his new role with immediate effect.

He has worked at LOROL for more than six years and was part of the bid team that won the contract awarded by TfL.

Peter reports to Jeremy Long (chief executive, European business, MTR and current LOROL chairman) and LOROL former managing director Steve Murphy who was appointed chief operating officer of Arriva UK Trains in January 2013.

Austin said: “I look forward to leading the team at LOROL. By working in close partnership with TfL, and with the continued commitment of our employees, we will focus on delivering more improvements for our customers.”
