Korean Air signs codeshare deal with Myanmar Airways

Korean Air signs codeshare deal with Myanmar Airways Si Thu, left, joins Chang Hoon Chi at the signing in Seoul

Korean Air has signed a partnership and codeshare memorandum of understanding with Myanmar Airways International.

Korean Air chief operating officer Chang Hoon Chi was joined by Myanmar Airways managing director Si Thu for a signing ceremony at Korean Air’s headquarters earlier.

Established in 1992, Myanmar Airways International operates seven international routes.

The MOU will enable both airlines to promote bilateral cooperation in all areas including passenger traffic, safety, in-flight services, flight operations and maintenance.

Under the agreement, MAI will place its “8M” code on Korean Air’s daily flight between Seoul and Yangon.

Korean Air plans to expand the codeshare agreement on flights operated by MAI.

The comprehensive codeshare agreement will enable Korean Air to strengthen its partnership with MAI, developing air traffic, increasing demand and improving schedules between the two countries, for both business and leisure passengers.
