IBIS BUDGET WELCOMES FLAGSHIP HOTEL IN THE HEART OF BARCELONA
ibis budget - the smart and comfortable basecamp for wallet-wise travellers - today announces the opening of ibis budget Barcelona Center, a newly built hotel in the heart of the Poblenou district and part of 22@ Barcelona, a major urban regeneration project including a tech hub, research centres and universities, as well as new residential spaces.
ibis budget Barcelona Center features 189 guest rooms - offering either a terrace or a private patio - all designed with the brand’s hallmark standards of efficiency and functionality in mind. The hotel also offers connecting rooms tailored for groups or families, as well as a brand-new rooftop pool, providing a special urban retreat with panoramic views over Barcelona.
The new property, which is the largest ibis budget hotel in Iberia, has been developed in line with the sustainability requirements of the 22@ urban plan, integrating solutions for energy efficiency, responsible water management and reduced environmental impact.
ibis budget Barcelona Center is located a 15-minute walk away from the famous Bogatell beach and the Olympic Port, and just five minutes from Llacuna metro station, with direct public transport connections to the historical city centre and its iconic landmarks, such as Plaza de Cataluña and the Sagrada Familia.
The hotel common areas boast a spacious indoor garden and an outdoor courtyard, which provide a social hub for both guests and locals visiting the hotel, as well as an on-site food concept under the Be Smart Food brand. The hotel also offers a full buffet breakfast, several areas to work or relax, all designed to combine comfort and functionality. Guests travelling by car can access a private parking facility equipped with electric vehicle charging stations, catering to the needs of urban and business travellers. A spacious bike parking is also available for guests who prefer to cycle in the city.

ibis budget Barcelona Center is owned by SIH and AGP Hotels, which will also operate the property as one of Accor’s key hotel partners in Spain and France. This latest addition marks another important step in Accor’s continued growth in Spain, with more than 100 hotels across more than 10 brands, including 20+ properties the Catalan capital alone, with hotel hotels under the Novotel, Mercure, The Hoxton, SLS and Sofitel brands, as well as ibis.

The new hotel incorporates a water reuse systems and rainwater harvesting to optimise water consumption, alongside landscaping with low-consumption, climate‑adapted Mediterranean vegetation. The property will be connected to the DISTRICLIMA district heating and cooling network and include solar energy, supporting a more efficient energy model. Innovative waste solutions, including the ENVAC pneumatic system, will also help reduce emissions, noise and visual impact in the surrounding area.
The hotel’s focus on water conservation also aligns with Accor’s five-year Sustainability Innovation Program, developed in partnership with the non-profit Water Unite, to pilot scalable water efficiency and reuse technologies across its network. Globally, Accor has committed to an overall 45% reduction in water withdrawals from 2023 levels, particularly targeting its 2,200+ properties in high water-stress regions.
