“This year marks a new era for our retail business as we focus on a strategy of innovation, investing in new technologies and service to enhance the customer experience.

“In her new role, Jill will lead this programme and work closely with other customer facing areas of our business to deliver a next generation holiday experience on the high street.

“With a wealth of retail experience from over 20 years in our business there is no one better placed to take on this role.”

Carter joined TUI UK & Ireland in 1991 and moved quickly through the retail leadership team firstly as a regional sales manager and then as a divisional sales manager.

More recently, in her role as head of sales, she has been responsible for driving sales and service through the network of 649 Thomson shops.

She has also played a major role in the design of the new retail service model and the implementation of Thomson’s new Holiday Design Stores.
