Days Inns Changes Corporate Name To Reflect Global Expansion

Days Inns of America Inc. will now be known as Days Inns Worldwide Inc., it was announced today by Joe Kane, Days Inns president and CEO, during the brands General Manager and Owners Conference in Tampa, Fla.

“Days Inns is now playing a leading role in the global market for franchised hotels,” Kane said. “Though the name Days Inns of America has served us well for three decades, it did not encompass our growing international presence,” he said. The corporate name change is effective March 31, 2000. The Days Inns signage and logo will remain unchanged.

The highly recognized Days Inn logo is a familiar marquee to any seasoned vacationer or business traveler across the globe. The bright yellow signs are found dotting highways and streets in Canada, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Hungary, India, Mexico, Philippines, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States and Uruguay; and will be coming soon to Japan.

To date there are over 1,900 Days Inn hotels open or under development. Days Inns hosts 38 million guests annually and averages 200,000 guests every night. Thirty years ago the brand invented the economy segment and today it still ranks in first place.

Days Inns is a subsidiary of Cendant Corporation (NYSE: CD), a global provider of real estate, travel and direct marketing related consumer and business services. Headquartered in New York, NY, Cendant has more than 30,000 employees and operates in over 100 countries. Day Inns Worldwide Inc. is headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey.
