Online retailer, eBags.com has become one of the first eRetailers to earn a profit.
December 2001 marked a milestone for the company as it experienced record sales and its first profitable month ever.
eBags.com reported an exceptionally strong last 10 days leading up to Christmas with sales increases of 45% versus the previous year. Jon Nordmark, CEO of eBags.com, commented “to be one of the first online retailers to show a profit is very gratifying, especially with the effect that the 9/11 tragedy had on the nation`s travelers. It demonstrates that eBags is poised to be one of the true Internet success stories and that our online retail business model is clearly superior to our brick and mortar counterparts.”
eBags.com announced that they experienced significant sales and market share gains in their handbag, backpack, and business case categories.
Nordmark added, “we have an exceptional team at eBags.com and from the very beginning we`ve been focused on getting to profitability. This year, 2002, will be our first full year of profitability, plus we`re adding some amazing features to eBags.com that will enhance the shopping experience. It`s been a long road, but worth every minute.”
eBags.com was named “Web site of the Year” by Catalog Age magazine and “Email Marketer of the Year” by ClickZ/MessageMedia. eBags.com is funded by Benchmark Capital, Technology Crossover Ventures, and Amerindo.
