Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has appointed John G.C. Wood as its new
General Manager
for its resort on the south west coast of Mauritius.

John G.C. Wood, who is dual citizen of Great Britain and Cyprus, is a
seasoned
hotelier with over 30 years of hotel management experience in Europe,
the Middle
East, the Caribbean and India. Wood, a graduate of the hotel management
school in
Lausanne (EHL), brings with him a wealth of expertise in successfully
running spa
and golf resorts. He joins the premium Swiss hospitality company from Le
Méridien,
where he most recently opened a resort in Split, Croatia and replaces
Patrick
Joulain at the end of his contract.

“First of all, we would like to thank Patrick Joulain for his efforts
and dedication
he brought to our Mauritian resort since January 2006”, says Josef
Kufer, Senior
Vice President Africa Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. “We are delighted to
welcome John
G.C. Wood, who fits perfectly for this stunning resort, to the Mövenpick
Hotels &
Resorts family now. As a French speaker, he will certainly add value
with France,
being the resort’s key source market, in addition to other European
countries and
South Africa.”

Mövenpick Resort & Spa Mauritius became part of the Swiss hotel group in
November
2005 and is owned by Kingdom Hotel Investments. The resort is located in
the heart
of the lush vegetation of Bel Ombre, an authentic paradise perfectly
integrated into
the large sugar cane plantations, and offers 181 spacious rooms and
suites. The
hotel’s wonderful beach-front location, first-class service, excellent
cuisine,
exceptional 1800 sqm Spa facilities, a vast array of leisure and
excursion
activities, along with the friendliness of the Mauritians, make this
resort truly
unique.
