Royal Carib reveals bedding concept

British passengers will be amongst the first to enjoy the
new bedding as Royal Caribbean International’s ‘Legend
of the Seas’ is the first in Europe to receive the bedding makeover. In March 2006 Royal Caribbean International announced a huge investment
in a bedding programme that would be rolled out to all ships by the end
of May 2007. The new bedding was showcased for the first time onboard
Freedom of the Seas in May 2006 and Legend of the Seas is the 2nd ship
in the fleet to receive the enhancement. The Legend of the Seas bedding
revamp has cost approximately $630,000.

Explaining the significance, sales and marketing director for Royal
Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises, Jo Rzymowska says:

“A good night’s sleep is one of the most important factors of a holiday.
The feedback about the new bedding has been phenomenal and so we are
excited to see that Legend of the Seas has been treated to one of the
first makeovers. With our huge commitment to the UK and Irish market, it
is important that the brand continues to innovate and surprise guests
with the quality of the experience onboard. Now we can offer the best
night’s sleep at sea, all from Southampton.”

The Legend of the Seas bedding makeover sees 1,850 new beds and over
5,550 pillows join the ship. That is enough beds, that if laid out
top-to-toe, to stretch around the outer circle of London’s Regents Park,
and enough new pillows to sit one on every seat in the Royal Albert
Hall.

In addition to new bed frames that are specially designed to prevent
sagging, nine-inch thick mattresses and new duvets with bed scarves, the
Royal Caribbean International bedding programme solves the problem of
the gap between two beds that features throughout the cruise industry
when twin beds are pushed together. Custom-designed pillow tops are
doubled over when placed on twin beds, but are unfolded and laid on top
of one another, and the mattresses, to create a gap-free queen-size bed.
