Korean Air Expands Agreement with Sabre Airlines Solutions

Sabre Airline Solutions has announced Korean Air has selected Sabre AirCrews to address all phases of crew management operations for its cabin crew. Sabre AirCrews is an integrated and comprehensive solution that will support the end-to-end crew management needs of Korean Air.

For over six years Korean Air has utilized Sabre AirCrews for scheduling and tracking of its cockpit crew and will now offer the full suite to its cabin crew. The extension of the carrier’s long standing relationship with Sabre Airline Solutions demonstrates Korean Air’s strong level of commitment to Sabre Airline Solutions’ proven, smart and bankable technology.

According to S.M. Lee, vice president, IT, Korean Air, Sabre AirCrews will greatly improve crew planning and resource utilization.

“Sabre AirCrews has delivered excellent results in the management of our cockpit crew, from long-term crew resource planning through day-of-operations crew tracking. Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, Korean Air announced a new corporate slogan, “Excellence in Flight,” and three supporting initiatives: Service Excellence, Operational Excellence and Innovative Excellence. Innovative Excellence means that Korean Air aims to keep competitive through cutting-edge technologies.

Team rostering will enable Korean Air to manage cabin crew “teams” rather than individuals, thereby maximizing teamwork and improving their productivity as well as customer experience. The AirCrews Crew Connection module will deliver easy, global access to real-time information via the Internet while enabling crew management personnel to receive crew input during the roster planning and generation process.

Nine carriers across Asia Pacific are now using Sabre AirCrews, highlighting Sabre Airline Solutions’ commitment to the region, and its ability to provide leading edge solutions that are keeping pace with emerging technologies and trends in the area of crew management.

Cameron Curtis, vice president, Asia Pacific, Sabre Airline Solutions, said Sabre AirCrews provides Korean Air with the ability to manage and optimize what is a very complex part of the airline business.

“There is a clear recognition in the marketplace of the complexity, breadth and depth of the end-to-end Crew Management business processes. Airlines that have implemented our AirCrews system have reduced operational costs up to 10 percent, while the incidence of flight delays and cancellations due to crew scheduling issues has been reduced. These proven results mean good news for both the airline and the airline’s customers,” said Curtis.
