All eyes on Rio as the flag hands over

2013 is the year to dance in the sand in Rio de Janeiro. The world’s attention will turn to the Brazilian city as the Summer Olympics is handed over on Sunday and it gears up to host the FIFA World Cup 2014.

G Adventures suggests travellers get ahead of the trend and attend the one event that can be relied on each year to draw crowds to the coastal city and its famous beaches – the colourful celebratory parades of Rio Carnival.

Travelling with G Adventures takes the hassle out of planning as each of its two packages to the Carnival Parade include entrance to the Sambadrome, as well as an experienced Chief Experience Officer (CEO) who is on hand to help travellers make the most of the experience and local culture.

A six-day standard Rio de Janeiro Carnival Experience is priced from £989pp* based on two people travelling together and staying in a standard-level hotel from February 7, 2013. The same trip staying in a comfort-level hotel is priced from £1,449pp based on two people sharing.

G Adventures specialises in South America and as well as launching the two trips specifically for Rio Carnival, it has a range of other trips taking small groups of travellers to the Brazilian city and beyond, for example:
*  The Best of Brazil – A nine-day trip from Rio return is priced from £1,549pp departing year-round from September 2012. Explore the remote island of Ilha Grande which is without cars, cruise on a schooner to pristine islands and beaches, be awed by Iguassu Falls and feel the energy of Rio de Janeiro.
