oneworld seeks to simplify selling alliance fares

Buying and selling of alliance multi-airline, multi-sector fares offered by oneworld has been made significantly simpler with the launch of automated pricing for its round-the-world and multi-continent tickets. Now, travel agents the world over connected to the Sabre Global Distribution System and its Abacus and INFINI associated systems can book and automatically calculate the fare for these tickets.

oneworld has unveiled key enhancements to oneworld events, its one-stop, easy-to-use travel service for the conferences, conventions, meetings, exhibitions and special events markets. Key improvements include lowering by half the minimum requirement for the number of delegates flying internationally to an event, to 50.

oneworld appoints Gurney to chief executive role

oneworld has today named industry veteran Rob Gurney as its new chief executive. He succeeds Bruce Ashby, who announced in January that he would be stepping down from the role this summer after more than five years in the position. Gurney will join oneworld in October after leaving Gulf carrier Emirates, where he served as senior vice president commercial operations, Americas.

Iberia gains Japanese anti-trust immunity alongside oneworld partners

Japan’s ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism has granted an extension of the anti-trust immunity to include Iberia in the joint business between Japan Airlines, British Airways and Finnair. The decision will allow the four airlines to cooperate commercially on flights between Europe and Japan. Iberia is expected to join the existing joint business between the other three airlines as from October 18th, 2016.
