Moevenpick Hotel and Apartments Bur Dubai, earns Green Globe re-certification

Green Globe announced re-certification of Moevenpick Hotel and Apartments Bur Dubai in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Over the past few years, this lifestyle hotel has demonstrated leadership and innovation in the fields of operational efficiency and globally-responsible practices on multiple levels. The success of Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts’ sustainability efforts lies in its integration into their business strategy.

“We launched the sustainability program to increase awareness and to educate both our employees and guests with ways to be more eco-friendly to the environment,” commented Robert Barker, General Manager at the Moevenpick Bur Dubai, “We are proud to be Green Globe certified and we will maintain our future-oriented standards. All our employees are participating in educational events, exploration, and ongoing communication to ensure the highest level of understanding and engagement.”

The hotel has implemented a long-term sustainability management system, and energy goals are strictly monitored. Water-saving devices throughout the property resulted in 30% lower water consumption. “Green Wrap Technology” was recently introduced to optimize the chillers’ efficiency. A reuse and recycle policy is in place, and packaging is reduced to a minimum. The Moevenpick Bur Dubai created a “Green Committee Group,” and all members are dedicated to achieve measurable targets. Guests are encouraged to minimize their environmental footprint and join local activities promoting awareness. In addition, the hotel offers a number of options for sustainable meetings and events.

Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts supports projects run by “Kidasha” (formerly Child Welfare Scheme, CWS), a development charity helping disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people in Nepal, one of the poorest and least developed countries in Asia. “Kidasha” reaches more than 50,000 children and mothers each year and improves the wellbeing of most marginalized children, reducing the impact of social injustice.

Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Guido Bauer, said: “We are extremely pleased to award re-certification to the Moevenpick Bur Dubai. Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts commitment goes beyond environmental sustainability, and the company sets new benchmarks in the luxury hotel industry worldwide.” For more information, watch the Moevenpick Bur Dubai video on Green Globe’s youtube channel – mygreenglobe.
