Rocco Forte Hotels is taking over the operations of Masseria Torre Maizza, an existing five-star resort located in Puglia, Italy.
The hotel will reopen as a Rocco Forte hotel in May 2019 following a significant refurbishment of its facilities.
This will be Rocco Forte’s first hotel in Puglia and will complement the group’s Italian offerings in Rome, Florence and Sicily.
Located near Savelleteri di Fasano, close to the Adriatic coast, surrounded by groves of ancient olive trees and a nine-hole executive golf course, the resort is an original masseria dating back to the 16th century.
A six-million-euro investment will greatly enhance the resort that will include a refurbishment of the existing rooms adding a number of junior suites and suites bringing the key count from 30 to 40.
Olga Polizzi, director of design for Rocco Forte Hotels, will work closely with local artisans to redesign the interiors.
The hotel will feature a sunset rooftop bar, a stylish restaurant overlooking the swimming pool, fitness centre, kids club, access to a private beach club nearby and meeting and event space.
On the new opening, Rocco Forte, chairman of the eponymous brand, said: “Puglia is one of Italy’s greatest treasures, a land of extraordinary architecture, colour, intense flavours and untouched nature.
“Masseria Torre Maizza is a beautiful place which combines all the deepest traditions and revelations of Puglia and we look forward to offering an experience that combines the highest levels of Rocco Forte service and hospitality in a place of character and unique beauty.”
