DFDS Seaways extends Scania partnership

DFDS Seaways has signed a new contract with Scania for the transport of truck chassis on the Rotterdam to Felixstowe freight route.

The contract will commence today will represent revenue of more than €800,000 in 2014.

After months of intensive preparations, DFDS Seaways has secured a two-year contract with Swedish truck manufacturer Scania for the shipment of truck chassis that are produced in Scania’s largest factory in Zwolle, the Netherlands.

The contract will involve the shipment of an estimated weekly average of 75 truck chassis that will be used in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The new contract comes in addition to the already existing shipment of truck chassis on the freight routes from Rotterdam to Felixstowe and Immingham.

The two routes will in total handle about 10,000 truck chassis per year.

DFDS Seaways is currently finalising the preparation for this new business.

This involves amongst other things the establishment of close cooperation with Scania’s appointed hauliers in Rotterdam and Felixstowe, making this an interesting cooperation involving many more stakeholders.

The contract is an extension of the current cooperation with Scania.

DFDS Seaways already transports truck and bus chassis for Scania on the shipping routes between Gothenburg and Immingham and on Gothenburg to Ghent.

“We are very pleased with this new cooperation. It demonstrates that DFDS Seaways’ reliability and high performance are recognised and appreciated by the customer,” says Rob Olbertz, route director for the Rotterdam-Felixstowe route that offers three daily sailings per week in both directions.
