Aviation internationally has felt some of the greatest impact from the war in Iraq and the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Malaysia Airlines is monitoring the situation most carefully and will take necessary remedial action in the best interests of the passengers.

Our analysis based on general market feedback indicates that the impact of the war in Iraq was already being felt even before actual hostilities began. Most discretionary travelers had either postponed or cancelled their flights earlier. Therefore the most recent cancellations are more SARS related. Malaysia Airlines will focus more on destinations that are experiencing a SARS outbreak as well as the neighbouring countries potentially affected, in line with the Malaysia government`s travel advisories and preventive measures.
