Malaysia Airlines Academy Receives Certificate

Malaysia Airlines` started the year 2003 on a bright note today when its training centre, the Malaysia Airlines Academy (MAA), received the Malaysian Standard (MS) ISO 9001:2000 certificate FROM SIRIM Berhad.

The certificate was awarded as MAA satisfied SIRIM`s quality management system requirements for the ability to Design, Develop and Provide Training and Consultancy Services Related to Airline Business Management programmes,

Malaysia Airlines` Senior General Manager Corporate Services, Dr Mohamadon Abdullah, received the award on behalf of MAA FROM SIRIM Berhad`s President and CEO, Y Bhg Dato` Dr Mohd Ariffin Hj Aton during the opening ceremony of Malaysia Airlines` one-day 2003 Human Resource Development Seminar held at MAA today.

Dr Mohamadon Abdullah said “the award is significant to MAA, as it is yet another attestation of its superiority as an aviation and aerospace training institute of world class standard through quality courses offered to both staff and third party works conducted for other airlines and corporate bodies.”
He added “the Academy gained state recognition when it was certified as an approved training provider by the Human Resource Development Council, Malaysia even during the early years of its operations. Last year it was awarded the Anugerah Pembangunan Sumber Manusia 2002 for the Best Training Provider in the Service Sector category FROM the Minister of Human Resources. Today`s recognition is thus timely in its efforts towards evolving INTO MAS Corporate University, a full fledged institution of higher learning, as envisioned by the company`s senior management to provide training and development programmes supporting the airline`s critical business issues.”

The MAA began operating as a profit centre in April 1995 FROM its premises at Kelana Jaya, using the latest equipment and cutting edge technology. It provides vital training and educational programmes within the airline, to its subsidiaries and third parties to upgrade employee knowledge, competency and skills to complement the acquisition and application of new technology and modern administrative and managerial techniques.
