First Pets Arrive In The UK

Teacher Janet Evans was the first British Airways customer to bring her golden retriever, Daisy and cat, Bee Jay into the UK today (2 July 2001) under the BA pet travel scheme.

Arriving on BA2232 from Bermuda, the animals are the first official British Airways pet passengers to enjoy immediate release to their owners without quarantine.

Janet’s partner, Bill, moved back to the UK 14 months ago, but Janet stayed behind waiting for the scheme to launch.

Mrs Evans said of the scheme; “Everybody’s made the process so easy because everybody wanted to get it right”. She went on; “We’re delighted that British Airways has decided to include Bermuda in the trial”.
