New $400 mn Islamabad airport opens

The new Islamabad International Airport inaugurated in a groundbreaking ceremony by President General Pervez Musharraf at Fateh Jang on Saturday is US$400 million project. The new airport would be the first greenfield, most modern and the biggest in the country.

It will be equipped with state of the art facilities, maximum passenger comfort and convenience incorporating international standards in construction reflecting the cultural heritage of Pakistan. The design for the construction of the new airport would help handle an annual traffic of 6.5 million passengers and hundred thousand metric tons of cargo.
