Survey shows Asian tourism losing revenue

A recent survey has revealed that Asian tourism is losing revenue due to popular misconceptions. Ignorance about tsunamis, bird flu and terrorism is costing revenue losses to Asia in billions, according to an opinion survey conducted by Visa International, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and AC Nielsen.

About 35 percent of the people surveyed said that they would not visit Asia because of the fear of tsunamis.

Other major concerns were terrorism and bird flu outbreaks although a majority of those surveyed did not have proper knowledge about them.
