Cathay Pacific Upgrades to Sabre Solutions

Sabre Airline Solutions today announced Cathay Pacific Airways has renewed
its contract for two key products—Sabre AirOps Dispatch Manager and
Sabre AirOps Movement Manager—in an upgrade that will help bolster the
airline’s position as a leading global hub and the gateway to Mainland
China. The Asia Pacific aviation industry is characterized by increasing
competition and mounting market pressures such as the proliferation of low
cost carriers and the advent of new entrants including Qantas’ Jetstar,
Singapore Airlines’ Tiger Airways and Thai Airways’ SkyAsia. In order to
remain competitive, airlines like Cathay Pacific are now relying on IT as
a key strategy for streamlining operations and improving organizational
efficiencies.

Cathay Pacific joins a growing list of Asia Pacific carriers who have
selected to upgrade their Systems Operations Control (SOC) with advanced
technology from Sabre Airline Solutions, including Virgin Blue, Air New
Zealand, China Southern, China Airlines and China Eastern.

Complementing its existing Sabre Airline Solutions product portfolio, the
renewal of Sabre AirOps Dispatch Manager and Sabre AirOps Movement Manager
represents Cathay Pacific’s strong commitment to Sabre Airline Solutions’
technology. Further to this, Cathay Pacific will host a Focus Group for
Sabre Airline Solutions users on 24-26 March 2004 as a platform to discuss
the benefits of Sabre Airline Solutions systems and to demonstrate the
role the Sabre Airline Solutions’ product portfolio plays in the company’s
strategic direction.

AirOps Movement Manager enables Cathay Pacific to increase aircraft
utilization and minimize operational disruption by providing a powerful,
flexible tool to help control airline operations. By using the safest,
most cost effective and efficient methods possible, this tool minimizes
the impact of irregular operations on profitability. With AirOps Dispatch
Manager, Cathay Pacific has access to a full service flight planning and
dispatch system that provides the airline with speedy and accurate flight
operation capabilities from generating dispatch release to final flight
plan.

“We recently expanded our commitment to the region by resuming flights to
the Chinese Mainland so now more than ever we need reliable, cutting-edge
IT solutions that will enable us to maintain superior service,” said
Captain John McCormick, General Manager Operations, Cathay Pacific
Airways. “Sabre Airline Solutions’ technology plays an integral role in
our daily business operations and provides the proven foundation we need
to maximize organizational success.”

of Sabre AirOps Dispatch Manager and Sabre AirOps Movement Manager, Cathay
Pacific will be able to leverage the advanced aircraft utilization and
flight planning/dispatch systems to remain competitive.”
