Hostelworld.com wins World Summit Award

Hostelworld.com
has been recognised as one of the best sites in the E-business category in the World Summit Awards held in Geneva last week. Hostelworld.com was selected from more than 800 entries, representing 136 countries and was named as one of forty of the world’s best content websites by the World Summit Award Grand Jury.

An initiative by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and several European nations, these awards focus on quality content and innovative internet applications. Winners were showcased as part of the Geneva World Summit on the Information Society, December 9-12, 2003.

This is just one of a number of accolades won by Hostelworld.com.  The site also won the overall Golden Spider Award in 2002 and the founders won the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year category at this year’s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards held in Dublin earlier this year.  Hostelworld.com provides online reservations for over 5,000 hostels and budget accommodation properties worldwide processing over two million reservations per year.
