Bain Capital takes stake in Apple Leisure Group

Bain Capital has completed an equity investment in Apple Leisure Group, the company that includes Apple Vacations, AMResorts and Amstar DMC.

The private investment firm, which gained notoriety when founder Mitt Romney stood for the Republican party during the 2012 American presidential race, did not reveal the value or equity share of the investment.

Alex Zozaya, formerly president of AMResorts, will take on the new role of chief executive of Apple Leisure Group.

Tim and Jeff Mullen will remain co-presidents of Apple Vacations and of Amstar DMC, a destination management company.

Gonzalo del Peon, formerly executive vice president of AMResorts, has been appointed president of AMResorts.

Javier Coll, formerly chief financial officer of AMResorts, has been appointed executive vice president and chief strategy officer of Apple Leisure Group.

The Mullens, Zozaya and other top executives will remain significant investors in the business, the company stated.
