Phil Blizzard Discovers Asian Flavours at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Palm Jumeirah

Travel broadcaster Phil Blizzard experiences flavours from right across Asia in the weekly Pan Asian theme buffet in the elegant setting of the Imperium Restaurant, Zabeel Saray on Palm Jumeirah.
“The difficult choice for me was making the decison of where to dine! Should it be the interior of this grand “Ottman Palace” inspired restaurant, with it’s French’ influences or should I sit outside.
Well, the deciding factor was the weather, with temperatures falling after months of incessant summer heat, it was a pleasure to sit outside on the terrace. The lush vegetation made one feel you were in Asia - a complementing setting, as I devoured my feast of delights from the furthest parts of the Orient.
There was, as one would expect, Cantonese style duck or if you prefer Peking Duck - and because of allergic reactions, without the strips of cucumber, please! Live sushi stations gave diners the opportunity to see the chef’s in action and the Saki made a fine pairing. Dim sums in woven baskets conjured up images of similar offerings found in the many street markets of downtown Hong Kong - a world apart from this the most elegant setting of the Imperium Restaurant.
The dishes were certainly varied with plenty to chose from, despite any real surprises. For me it was the outdoor setting, with the tranquil waters surrounding the crescent of Palm Jumeirah glistening in the moonlight, which made the evening
