New appointment for CHTA
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association has announced that Vanessa Ledesma will assume the role of director of operations, a new position with responsibilities for overall day-to-day oversight of the Association.
Sanguinetti steps down at Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association
The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association announced that Alec Sanguinetti is retiring as director general after 19 years in executive positions with the organization and 52 years as one of the tourism industry’s top airline and hotel executives. Richard Doumeng, president of CHTA, said that a search committee is being formed to find a replacement for Sanguinetti who will step down as of January 31st, 2013 following Caribbean Travel Marketplace.

Caribbean Marketplace celebrates increase in visitor numbers
The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association recently wrapped up the 30th edition of Caribbean Travel Marketplace, which was held at the Atlantis, Paradise Island. The region’s premiere marketing event saw a 17 per cent increase (over 2011) in buyer companies with 142 in attendance, 11 of which were from Russia, as well as an increase in buyer delegates which totaled 344 versus 314 in 2011.
