Tunisian Travel soars with the opening of Enfidha Airport

Tunisia’s seventh airport paves the way for easy onward travel in 2010

Tunisia has reaffirmed its position as a top holiday hotspot for 2010 with the forthcoming opening of Enfidha Zine El Abidine Ben Ali International Airport, Sousse.

Situated in the heart of the country’s burgeoning northeast, the 6,500 hectare site employs cutting edge technology and design targeted at maximising the efficiency of travel, with test flight results boasting turnaround times of around 50 minutes.

Managed by TAV Airports, with a business portfolio extending throughout North Africa and the Middle East, the unique location provides easy access to Tunisia’s most popular holiday destinations.

Following the confirmation of the 2009 ‘Open Sky’s’ agreement plans are to introduce a regular service from the UK. Initial expectations suggest Enfidha will transport around seven million international passengers per year, with long-term capacities extending to as high as 30 million.
