Tunisian National Tourist Office welcomes new UK & Ireland director

The Tunisian National Tourist Office (TNTO) has welcomed Wahida Jaiet as the new UK and Ireland director.

Jaiet takes over from Anissa Ramoundi, who spent three years with the TNTO in London.

Previously director for the TNTO in Prague, Wahida has spent five years in senior positions at the national tourist board.

She was previously head of UK and Scandinavian markets at the TNTO’s head office in Tunis.

With nine years’ experience in the private sector as the director of promotion at the Tunisian Hotels Association, she has a wealth of experience in the industry both at home in Tunisia and abroad.

“With a new government in power and a new democracy taking shape, it’s certainly an exciting time to be involved in Tunisia’s tourism industry,” said Jaiet.

“I have no doubt that we have challenges ahead, but our partners in the UK and Ireland have been incredibly supportive and I’m looking forward to working with them to bring visitors back to Tunisia in 2012.

“The British market bounced back quicker than any other and has become our third most important source of visitors.

“We will be working to extend our appeal here in the UK, highlighting Tunisia’s 3,000 years of history as well as our Thalassotherapy centres and unique dars, which are set in amazing landscapes,” continued Jaiet.

Wahida will be based in the London TNTO office on Wigmore Street and will head up the current team of five.

She is fluent in Arabic, French, English and Spanish and is passionate about travel and, when she gets the chance, gardening.
