Accommodation website Hotels.com has reported that holiday searches by people across the UK seeking sunshine holidays are 212 per cent for the last week in April, suggesting that people are intending to take advantage of the extra bank holiday.

For example, searches for trips to Spanish island of Tenerife were up 154 per cent while searches for Portuguese destinations were up 147 per cent compared to one year ago. The biggest increase in popularity was for Marrakech, a destination, which has built upon its 2010 searched by 235 percent.
