Skyscanner reveals which royal honeymoon destinations may be on Zara’s list
As we bid farewell to Edinburgh and the second Royal Wedding of the year, thoughts now turn to the potential honeymoon destination of Zara Phillips and new husband Mike Tindall.
Mr and Mrs Tindall’s honeymoon has been delayed due to the pair’s upcoming sporting commitments, with the England rugby star in action against Wales on Saturday 6 August at Twickenham and Zara competing at the British Eventing Festival over the same weekend near her family home of Gatcombe Park.
Although no honeymoon plans are set in stone, the sporty couple are said to be looking for a vacation later this year, and sun-kissed beaches are likely to vie with outdoor pursuits destinations for the final choice for the Phillips-Tindall royal honeymoon.
International travel search site Skyscanner has taken inspiration from glamorous royal honeymoons past, to provide potential royal honeymoon destinations where Zara and Mike may enjoy the start of their married life.
The Seychelles
Following frenzied speculation, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – aka Will and Kate - enjoyed their honeymoon in May in the tropical islands of the Seychelles, arriving by helicopter at their private villa which is rumoured to have cost £4,000 per night. If Mr and Mrs Tindall do decide on a similar honeymoon option, they can expect five-star luxury, whiter than white sandy beaches and the clear waters of the Indian Ocean, all far away from the prying eyes of the media.

South Africa
53-year old Prince Albert of Monacoand his blushing 33-year old bride Charlene travelled to South Africa for their honeymoon in July, although the couple took the unusual step of staying in separate hotels in Durban and Umhlanga Rocks respectively. The British couple may well wish to spend their honeymoon together, so South Africa’s luxurious accommodation and wildlife safaris will be right up the street of outdoor types Zara and Mike.
Mallorca
Closer to home this time, an option for Zara and Mike is also the scene of the famous honeymoon of movie beauty Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956. The chic Balearic island of Mallorca is the ideal spot for a Mediterranean sailing holiday, and the couple may wish to begin their stay at the sophisticated Cala Sant Vicenç hotel, located less than an hour from the airport.
Mustique
A favourite of Zara’s auntie Princess Margaret, the Caribbean island of Mustique is the preferred hideaway of stars such as Mick Jagger and Kate Moss who enjoy the privacy afforded by the island’s paparazzi ban. Basil’s Bar has hosted many infamous champagne-fuelled parties over the years and will surely be as accommodating to Mr and Mrs Tindall should they wish to party after a hard day on the beach.
