Etihad latest airline to cancel flights to Syria

Etihad Airways has become the latest airline to suspended flights Damascus due to the deteriorating security position in Syria.

The flights, which had operated out of the UAE flag-carrier’s base in Abu Dhabi will be halted with immediate effect and until further notice.

“The safety of passengers and crew is paramount to the airline,” Etihad said in a statement. 

Etihad Airways confirmed it would notify affected passengers and offer a full refund for unused tickets.

Air France, Turkish Airways, and Aeroflot are among the other carriers to have cancelled flights into the Syrian capital in recent days.
