Directline Holidays CEO, Maria Whiteman says: “Every year we see thousands of Brits in a mad rush to book January breaks in a bid to cheer themselves up.

“This week is always our busiest as people tend to run out of moneyafter an early payday in December, feel guilt perpetuated by broken new year’s resolutions and are knocked by the inevitable sun deprivation that creeps up on many of us.

“Even just the idea of holiday can help some through the dour January and February months.

“We are anticipating bumper blues as office workers wary of taking all their leave due to the double dip recession embark on 2013 already exhausted.
