John Hardy Group Completes Refurbishment

The John Hardy Group announced the completion of the $11 million renovation to the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Minneapolis. JHG provided Project Management Services including on-site project management and project accounting.
Bret Smith, VP Hotel Development Services for Carlson Hotels was extremely pleased with the project coming in on time and within budget. “It was a relatively complex project that was executed without closing the hotel. Key operational functions were relocated to accommodate the new restaurant including administrative offices, back of house operations and food and beverage facilities while renovating the guestrooms simultaneously. We did not have a single guest checkout due to construction disruption during the entire project. The John Hardy Group was an integral player in the success of the renovation.”
Guestrooms and corridors have been upgraded with newly reconfigured suites, as well as a complete transformation of the lobby and other key public areas. In addition, a new full-service restaurant, the FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar featuring display cooking, was constructed on the ground floor with access from the lobby and the street. The previous hotel restaurant, located on the third floor was converted to meeting rooms and the cafe overlooking the atrium was converted to function space designed to meet the city`s demand for more meeting space. This multi-phased refurbishment plan began in January 2002.
“We are extremely pleased with the results of this extensive renovation and believe that Radisson has accomplished its goal of creating a top full-service showcase property,” says John Hardy, president of The John Hardy Group, located in Atlanta, Georgia.
