Northwest Expands Popular “E-First” Upgrade Program; Now Available at All Northwest E-Service Center

Northwest Airlines announced today that it has expanded its popular “E-FIRST” electronic paid upgrade program to include all Northwest E-Service Center locations in its domestic system.


E-FIRST allows qualifying E-Ticket customers who check in at an E-Service Center to upgrade to first class on select domestic nonstop flights for a nominal fee. Effective immediately, the upgrade program includes the following cities:

—Boston
—Baltimore
—Chicago-O’Hare
—Detroit
—Indianapolis
—Kansas City
—Los Angeles
—Memphis
—Minneapolis/St. Paul
—Milwaukee
—New York-LaGuardia
—Newark
—Philadelphia
—Phoenix
—San Francisco
—Seattle
—Tampa
—Washington, DC
The fee for upgrading to First Class (on a qualifying flight) is based on your flight mileage: flights less than 750 miles, upgrade to First Class for $25; flights between 750 and 2,100 miles can be upgraded to First Class for $35; and flights greater than 2,100 miles, upgrade to First Class for $50.


In addition, passengers continue to receive 1,000 WorldPerks Bonus Miles when checking in at any E-Service Center before December 31, 1999.


E-FIRST Terms and Conditions: E-FIRST upgrades are offered only on select nonstop domestic flights based on First Class availability at time of check-in. Connecting flights are not eligible for E-FIRST upgrades. Check-in must be performed at an E-Service Center at least 20 minutes, but not more than six hours, prior to departure. E-FIRST upgrades can be purchased only at Northwest’s E-Service Centers. A full-fare E-Ticket, defined as any unrestricted fully Y class or *26 types fares that have no advance purchase requirements or other restrictions, must be purchased to qualify for an E-FIRST upgrade. Upgrade prices include tax. E-FIRST upgrade must be purchased at the time of check-in and paid for with a major credit card. E-FIRST terms and conditions are subject to change without notice. 1,000 Mile Online Booking Bonus Terms and Conditions: The 1,000 Mile Bonus offer is valid for WorldPerks members flying on an E-ticket and using an E-Service Center at time of check-in. Only one bonus may be applied for each one-way E-Ticket confirmation number, regardless of the number of people traveling under the same confirmation number. Bonus Mile offer is valid for travel through December 31, 1999.
