Coast-to-Coast Deals from Southwest


DALLAS, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/—Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) doesn`t care if you`ve been naughty or nice! Santa has wiped his slate clean and is offering Southwest Airlines Customers a great way to kickoff the New Year from coast-to-coast. The airline is offering deals for select short-haul markets as low as $34 each way and in select long-haul markets as low as $89 each way.


“Our Customers have been faithful throughout the holiday season,” said Joyce Rogge, Southwest`s senior vice president of marketing. “We hope this cornucopia of low fares will encourage Customers to go, see, and do in the New Year.”


There are five different fare sales available. Please see the breakdown below:


Coast-to-Coast Fares: Fares range from $39 to $99 each way on off-peak days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday) and from $44 to $129 each way on the busier peak days (Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday). Some fare examples include $99 each way between Los Angeles and Kansas City, Phoenix and Orlando, and Nashville and Seattle.

Midwest: Fares are just $34 each way in 21 of Southwest`s Midwest markets. For example, Customers can take advantage of the $34 each-way fare between Nashville and Chicago Midway, between Cleveland and St. Louis, between Kansas City and Indianapolis, and between Detroit and St. Louis, just to name a few.

Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas: Southwest Airlines is showing Customers some Southern hospitality in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas with one heckuva deal for travel within these three states. Customers will only pay $34 or $60 each way on select flights. For example Customers will only pay $34 each way between Amarillo and Dallas Love Field, between Austin and Lubbock, and between El Paso and Midland/Odessa, just to name a few, partner! Examples of the $60 each-way fares are flights between Austin and Tulsa, Corpus Christi and Oklahoma City, and El Paso and Houston.


Northwest: Southwest Airlines also is offering fantastic fares for the New Year in many of its Northwest markets. For example, you can travel from Seattle to Spokane for just $34 each way, between Seattle and Las Vegas for just $79 each way, and between Portland and Oakland for just $59 each way.


Indianapolis: Southwest Airlines is offering all kinds of deals for select Indianapolis nonstop markets. The airline is offering fares as low as $59 each way for advance purchase and $139 each way walk-up fares between Indianapolis and Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa Bay. Indianapolis travelers can enjoy some of Southwest`s longer haul flights which are available for just $89 each way with advance purchase and $199 each way unrestricted between Indianapolis and Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. The $59 and the $89 each-way fares must be purchased 14 days in advance. The unrestricted fares are available whenever you are ready to travel! Fares are available only on nonstop flights.


The Rules: These special fares are on sale now through Jan. 20, 2003, for travel between Jan. 6, 2003, through the end of the published schedule June 6, 2003. All fares (except walkup fares) require roundtrip purchase with an overnight stay (any night). Tickets must be purchased at least 14 days before departure and within one day of making reservations. Fares do not include a federal segment tax of up to $3 per takeoff and landing. Fares also do not include airport-assessed passenger facility charges up to $18 roundtrip or government- imposed September 11th Security fees of up to $10 roundtrip. Tickets are nonrefundable but (except for tickets purchased through Southwest`s Group Tickets program) may be applied toward future travel on Southwest Airlines. Seats are limited and may not be available on some flights that operate during peak or holiday travel times, such as spring break and Easter weekend. For all Florida markets, blackout dates are March 13, 2003 through April 13, 2003. Fares are subject to change until ticketed, and any change in itinerary could result in an increase in the fare. Fares are not necessarily common rated in Houston, the Bay Area, or the Los Angeles Basin area. Orange County`s John Wayne Airport is not included in these sales.
