United Begins Codeshare on Air Dolomiti

United Airlines (NYSE:UAL) today announced that it will begin selling code-share flights on Air Dolomiti, a well-known and respected Italian regional carrier in which Lufthansa German Airlines has had a stake since 1999.

United has placed its code on more than 40 daily flights operated by Air Dolomiti.  These codeshare flights will open up 8 new Italian travel destinations for United customers:  Verona, Bologna, Genova, Venice, Bari, Trieste, Pisa and Ancona.  Codeshare flights operated by Air Dolomiti will connect to United flights into and out of Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt and Munich.

As a result of the codeshare, passengers traveling to and from Europe on United will be able to make fast and efficient connections to/from Air Dolomiti flights, significantly reducing travel time.  Baggage will be checked through to the passenger’s final destination, boarding passes for all flights will be issued at the first point of check-in, and Mileage Plus members will be able to accrue Mileage Plus miles on all United codeshare flights operated by Air Dolomiti.

Air Dolomiti is one of the largest regional partners of Lufthansa German Airlines, United’s key alliance partner in Europe.  United began code share service with Lufthansa in 1992.
