New LHT Customer: Japanese Airline The Fair

Supplying components for Canadair Regional Jets
With its broad spectrum of aircraft MRO services, Lufthansa Technik AG (LHT) is widening its foothold in Japan.
After signing its first agreement for engine servicing there last February, LHT has now been awarded a Total Components Support (TCS) contract under which it will be supplying components for the Canadair Regional Jets of the young Japanese airline The Fair. It will thus be providing repair services to two of the three newly founded Japanese airlines serving the country`s domestic market.
LHT offers these services jointly with Lufthansa CityLine. They cover the repair of aircraft components as well as supplying the customer with needed components within 24 hours from the LHT components pool, which is available worldwide. The Fair`s president Jun Okawara says of the contract: “We`re sure that Lufthansa Technik will be giving us excellent service.”

According to Andreas Kehl, LHT marketing and sales director for Asia and the Far East, this first TCS contract signed with a customer in Japan shows that Lufthansa Technik made the right move in opening a representative office in Tokyo a year ago in order to be able to offer “more-competitive solutions at optimal cost. This enables us to make our years of accumulated know-how available in Japan in the quickest way with products tailored to local needs.”

The Fair`s fleet currently comprises two Canadair Regional Jets, with two more to be added by the year 2002.
