Gulf Air, Kuwait Airways To Enhance Co-Operation

Gulf Air and Kuwait Airways held the second meeting of the Joint Committee on Sunday 10th February in Kuwait. Mr. Ibrahim Abdullah Al Hamer, Gulf Air President and Chief Executive, Mr. Adel Abdullah Ali, Gulf Air Vice President Commercial and Customer Services and Mr. Ahmed Faisal Al Zabin Kuwait Airways Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director attended with other senior airline officials. “The meeting reviewed aspects of joint co-operation and co-ordination in flight schedules between the two carriers at some GCC airports initially and then on a wider scale at a global level in the future,” said Mr. Ahmed AlJanahi, Gulf Air Public Relations Manager.
“The two sides tackled issues related to enhancing the exchange of expertise in relation to frequent flyers and incentives in addition to reviewing other key issues. Participants agreed on expanding the scope of technical co-operation at various airports”, he added. “The two sides agreed on fostering technical co-operation between the two airlines to cover engineering and aircraft maintenance at some airports. Gulf Air will offer these services to Kuwait Airways in Bahrain, Karachi, Singapore, Doha and Riyadh. They also agreed on expanding joint technical support at international points such as Damascus, Beirut and Cairo.”
A joint group has been established to enhance future co-operation in technical fields. The two sides also agreed on activating cooperation in the field of training, in that Kuwait Airways will offer training for Gulf Air’s personnel. Participants also discussed cooperation in terms of aircraft sales and joint negotiation in order to obtain the optimal offers,” Mr. Al Janahi concluded. Mr. Ibrahim AlHamer also met with HE Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Abdullah Al Ahmed, Director of Kuwait Civil Aviation Department, and discussed enhancing joint co-operation and improving air transport services for the convenience and welfare of the traveling public.
