Visit London revamps website

Visit London has re-launched its website as part of its preparations for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and commitment to providing the best information about the capital to visitors and Londoners.
The new, fresh-look site has been designed to allow London’s visitors to navigate information quicker and easier, run more powerful searches, and book a range of products and services including hotel rooms, theatre tickets and restaurants.

Visit London Chief Executive James Bidwell said:
“As we prepare to welcome the world in 2012 it is important that we provide visitors with the best possible information and content. The Visit London website has been revitalised to ensure visitors get the most out of their stay in the capital and the most up-to-date information in one, easy to navigate location.

“This is only the first step in our digital plans in the lead up to London 2012. The next stages in the development of the Visit London website include the ability to post user-generated content, which will be available by the end of the year.”

A key highlight of the new Visit London site are Explorer maps. London Explorer shows all the attractions, bars, restaurants, hotels in a defined area and allows users to search for what they’re looking for quickly and easily. A new ‘People like You’ section makes recommendations for different visitors - from family, youth and budget to luxury, gay and green.

Visit London Digital Director Jose Adams said:
“We’ve researched user requirements and built new features around what visitors tell us they want. There are several additional new features in the pipeline focused on allowing users to personalise content, which will ensure that we continue to offer visitors the best online experience.”
