Asiana to buy eight aircraft in 2007

Asiana Airlines, South Korea’s second airline, said Thursday it will take delivery of eight new aircraft from Airbus and Boeing this year. Axccording to Agence France Presse, the eight aircraft will be either leased or purchased, a company spokeswoman said, without giving details.

Asiana will take delivery of two Boeing 777-200ER, two Airbus A321-200, an Airbus 320-200 and an Airbus 330-300, she said.

The remaining two jets will also likely be secured from Airbus, she said.

Flag carrier Korean Air last November announced a 5.5 billion dollar order for 25 Boeing passenger and freight aircraft, the biggest single deal in South Korean aviation history.
