Travel comparison website yesterday saw its highest visitor rates in a day ever, smashing the previous target achieved in July 2006 by around 15,000 visitors.

Having begun an £11m brand push on December 26 the site saw visitors that week lift by 75 per cent on the preceding week, before reaching record visitor numbers in the first week of January.

The success results from a campaign which includes £8m marketing spend on TV advertising, with radio and London Underground car insert advertising being planned.
